Spartans celebrate 8th Grade Championship win

By Tim Winters, 11/05/18, 7:30PM EST

The Sun Valley Spartans middle school team defeated the Holy Trinity Bulldogs, 57-30 on Saturday to win the 8th-grade championship game. This video captures the highlights of the postgame celebration.

The Spartans finished the season a perfect 10-0 behind an explosive offense that outscored most of their 8th-grade regular season competition by well over 100 points. As good as that offense was, their defense was as impressive surrendering just eight points per game.

It was a well-deserved championship win for the Spartans after a remarkable 2018 football season.

I'll be working on game highlights over the next few days but in the meantime; I hope you enjoy the celebration that I captured.

On a side note- by now we have heard of the unfortunate injury suffered by Sun Valley's Da'Shawn Ivey. In all my years of watching football, I have never been so impacted by what I witnessed in person early last Saturday evening.

On behalf of UnioNCounty Football and our thousands of supporters and followers, I want to extend all of our thoughts and prayers to Da'Shawn, his family, friends, teammates, and coaches. We pray for the best possible outcome for this young man.
