Porter Ridge senior kicker Jared Wheatley has been selected to play in the Pro Football Hall of Fame World All-Star Bowl. The game will be played on December 22 at Azul Stadium in Mexico City.
Wheatley ranked as the #2 punter in the nation with Kornblue Kicking and currently #2 for punting average on MaxPreps, has been chosen as the first team punter in this elite high school football all-star game.
The full roster will be announced in early November, but several top high school players have already committed to play in the game, including QB Taulia Tagovailoa, QB Ryan Hilinski, center Clay Webb and DE Kayvon Thibodeaux.
NFL Hall of Fame members such as Rod Woodson, Ray Farmer, Chuck Bresnahan, and Robert Ford will coach in the game.
The senior kicker is a multipurpose specialist who kicks field goals, kickoffs and punts for Porter Ridge in addition to being a three-year starter on defense.
Wheatley has received four offers including a scholarship offer at UNCC where he has verbally committed to play.
