Weddington High School moved to 8-1 on the season with their 45-7 defeat of county and conference rival Marvin Ridge.
The Warriors were led by super sophomore Will Shipley who rushed for 125 yards on 21 carries and two touchdowns.
Senior wide receiver James Shipley had the game clip of the night; a 41-yard TD where Shipley evades three tacklers with a spectacular run that included a juke, spin and mad dash to the end zone.
Senior Whitner Litton was 17-of-25 passing for 286 yards with two touchdowns and one interception.
Junior Ian Williams, the Weddington kicker, continues to show off his D1 caliber leg with a 51-yard field goal to close out the first half.
The Warriors move into sole possession of second place in the Southern Carolina Conference with a 4-1 record and will host Monroe (5-4 overall, 2-3 in SCC) next Friday.
The Mavericks, 6-3 overall and 3-2 in the SCC will take on Sun Valley (7-2 overall and 3-2 in SCC) at home on Friday night.
