I decided to add a new wrinkle to the game of the week coverage this year. When I cover one game, I will announce Game of the Week MVP's- one on offense and one on defense. This week, I get things rolling by announcing the game MVPs from the Porter Ridge vs. Cuthbertson Friday night matchup.
Jaylen Coleman, the senior running back for the Porter Ridge Pirates has been named the offensive MVP for his historic performance on Friday night’s 56-35 win against the Cuthbertson Cavaliers. Coleman rushed for 349 yards on 19 carries, scoring four touchdowns and in the process set the school record for most rushing yards in a game. Coleman also placed himself amongst the county elite ranking third-all time in rushing yards in a game.
Cuthbertson senior linebacker, Chris Panko has been selected as the defensive MVP of the game. In a losing effort, Panko was relentless in his pursuit of the ball carrier registering 18 solo tackles including three for loss of yardage.
I want to extend congratulations to both Jaylen and Chris on outstanding individual performances.
