Parkwood High School is pleased to announce the addition of Rashad McGee as the new men's basketball coach and Chris Linthicum as its new wrestling coach.
Coach McGee is no stranger to the Parkwood basketball program as he replaces his brother and longtime coach Jamal McGee. The younger McGee is a 2001 graduate of Parkwood and has been an assistant for the varsity team at Parkwood for the last 4 years while also coaching the Parkwood middle school team. Coach McGee attended Winston Salem State University where he was a 2 years starter for the basketball team. Said Parkwood Athletic Director Nelson Garner "We are very excited to have coach Rashad taking over the program. He is someone who is extremely invested in this community and his vision and passion for continuing to elevate the program were very evident when we met with him"
Coach Linthicum comes to Parkwood from Monroe High School where he has served as an assistant football coach for 8 years and the head wrestling coach for the last 5 years while also teaching physical education. He is a 2004 graduate of Parkwood High School and a graduate of Chowan University where he was a 4 year starter for the football team. His record as wrestling coach at Monroe is 116-67 and during that time he’s placed 15 state qualifiers with 7 of them placing in the top 6.
"We are absolutely thrilled to bring coach Linthicum into our athletic program here at Parkwood" said Garner. "His reputation in this county for developing athletes and helping to shape their character is well known. Our students both in the classroom and the athletic fields are very lucky to have someone of his caliber working with them."
