The Forest Hills Yellow Jackets defeated Central Pageland, 28-12.
What a difference a year makes! Last season, Forest Hills dropped a game to Central Pageland, 40-19. It was a game some folks called one of the worst performances they have seen from the Yellow Jackets in recent memory.
It was Cory Smith’s first year as head coach and only his third game. The Jackets were 0-3, and they would finish up with a 1-10 record.
Today, less than twelve hours removed from an impressive home victory and dominating defensive performance, the Jackets are 1-2 and feeling pretty good about themselves.
It could have been easy to get down after a tough home loss last week to Parkwood, but this team is different. Skill and talent exist in good numbers on both sides of the ball. The players believe they might have something special. It’s a coaches dream and an opponent’s nightmare.
It’s hard to predict the future in sports but what thing is for certain. Football is back in Marshville, and it appears the Yellow Jackets are intent on making it stay that way.
