Monroe dominated Anson on Tuesday night, 49-0 in Wadesboro, North Carolina. It was Monroe's first football game in 25 days, a Covid hiatus impacting one of the strongest football squads in the county.

Many projected Monroe to play deep into the postseason with a legitimate shot at making a state championship appearance barring unforeseen circumstances. The Redhawks have a dual-threat junior at QB in Khamoni Robinson, a four-star Maryland commit at wide receiver and defensive back in Shaleak Knotts, and the most underrated player in Union County in Elliott Reed. Reed, a senior wide receiver and defensive back, led the county during the spring in interceptions and finished in second and third amongst county receivers.

Monroe jumped out to a 28-0 halftime lead on Tuesday night, backed by Robinson's three touchdown passes and one TD run. Junior Bryce Davis was on the scoring- end of two of those passes. Davis, a six-foot-two, 190-pound receiver and defensive lineman, is another Redhawk to watch (as college recruiters are doing right now) this season and next.

The Hawks tacked on three more touchdowns in the second half, including a TD reception from Knotts, an touchdown runs from Davis, and sophomore Zach Melton, who scored twice on the night.

The Redhawks (3-1) will host Parkwood (4-1) on Friday night for another conference clash; the winner will be in the driver's seat for a Rocky River Conference title.
