Marvin Ridge opened up Southern Carolina Conference play with a 16-14 win over Porter Ridge on Friday night.
This game just felt different. It has been a crazy two years and although football was played in the spring, the high school game didn't have the same feel. That was not the case on Friday night at Mavericks Stadium.
The student sections were lively, the marching bands playing at full throttle, cheerleaders and dance squads- it was football in full color, bright, loud and electric.
The match-up didn't hurt pitting two of the county's best teams in the first game of conference play. The game itself lived up to all expectations. It was a hard-hitting battle from the game's opening kickoff.
