On March 14, everything changed for students across North Carolina. Schools closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and as a result, the lives of student-athletes put on hold.
Nine days later, another announcement from the state that school- closing would extend until May 14.
Finally, on April 24, the Governor of North Carolina decided to shut down schools for the remainder of the school year.
Despite the negative news, our student-athletes are finding ways to work on their craft while maintaining respect for the virus responsible for this shutdown.
As we continue to navigate through this crisis, I'll profile some of our local athletes that are being resourceful and optimistic despite the obstacles.
Today, my interview with Monroe's rising senior wide receiver/defensive back Jordan Black.
Black wrapped up 2019 with 25 receptions for 265 yards and three touchdowns playing behind two of the best wideouts in the county.
This upcoming season, Jordan Black will be one of the Redhawks' primary targets in the passing game, and it appears the young man is ready.
Below, my conversation with the Monroe WR/DB.
