The Rival Combine Series is coming to the Charlotte area (Nations Ford HS in Fort Mill) on March 28.
What does this mean if you are a high school football player?
It means that if you are playing high school football and are thinking about playing college ball, you should be circling the date on your calendar and register now.
You should register because if you want to be taken seriously as a recruit, you will need accurate stats measured from a reputable and esteemed company like Rivals.
Position players are tested and will participate in position-specific drills (QBs, RBs, WR/TEs, OLs, DLs, LBs, and DBs).
There is no doubt that a strong performance at one of their combines provides an edge when it comes to scholarship opportunities.
What can an athlete expect?
The Rivals Combine uses a laser timing system, that's the same type of equipment used in the NFL Combine.
Every athlete will test in:
* 40-Yard Dash
* Shuttle Run
* 3-Cone Drill
* Vertical Jump
* Broad Jump.
Every athlete gets two runs at each test. The best time or marks are recorded and will be evaluated on-site with top combine performers receiving an invitation to the coveted invite-only Rivals Camp Series, which runs in Charlotte, on the following day, March 29.
We all know scholarship opportunities are few and highly competitive. There are many boxes that need to be checked along the way to acquiring the elusive sports scholarship.
Two of the major boxes are of course academics and athletics. Maintain your grades, continue to press yourself in the classroom to get better. Athletically this combine in the offseason is a no brainer as far as I'm concerned.
The Rivals Combine Series is widely respected and it provides an athlete with a FREE opportunity to stand out.
