Marvin Ridge suffered a tough home loss to conference rival Charlotte Catholic last night, 14-7.
It was the Mavs' smallest deficit in a loss to Catholic since a 2012 playoff defeat, 15-12; little consolation for a Marvin Ridge team two yards shy of the end zone on the game's last play. A touchdown and point-after would have forced overtime. It was not to be.
I arrived a few minutes into the third quarter, and both defenses we giving up very little. Yardage came at a premium with field position and turnovers, ultimately deciding the contest.
Marvin Ridge wraps up the regular season with a 6-5 record and will await the playoff seeding later this afternoon.
