QB chat with Metrolina's Angel Gonzalez

By Tim Winters, 08/12/19, 12:30PM EDT

When the conversation of county quarterbacks comes up few would ever think to mention Metrolina Christian's, Angel Gonzalez. That would be a mistake.

In a season that is quickly approaching many schools are entering the year with first-year or unproven quarterbacks. Gonzalez is not one of them. The rising senior QB has been the backup at Metrolina for two seasons but saw plenty of action when starter Myles Saxton went down with injuries.

In his sophomore and junior season, Gonzalez threw for 1,745 yards and 23 touchdowns and a 67% completion rate. Not bad for a backup playing in some big games. In his sophomore year, he led all county QBs in QBR.

Gonzalez enters 2019 as Metrolina's starting quarterback. It's a well-deserved honor for a player that has worked hard and paid his dues.
