Marvin Ridge didn’t waste any time making their presence known on the road against Parkwood.
The Mavericks senior running back Caleb Deveaux capped an opening drive that covered 67-yards with a 4-yard touchdown run.
Midway thru the second-quarter, Carson Cross put his Mavs back on the scoreboard with an 89-yard pick-six.
Marvin Ridge would add two more scores in the quarter thanks to another TD run by Deveaux (35 yards) and a 51-yard field goal by junior Jason Stricker who is a perfect 3-for-3 on the season.
Marvin Ridge led 24-0 at halftime and well on their way to a 48-6 victory and a 7-0 start to the season, the best start in the program’s history.
Parkwood’s lone score was a 7-yard touchdown run by JJ Benton who finished the night leading all rushers with 92 yards on 17 carries.
Deveaux led the Mavs in rushing with 84 yards on nine carries and two TDs.
Bryce McClain, the Marvin Ridge senior QB and UnioNCounty Football Player of the Month for September continued his torrid play going 11-for-16 and 71 yards and one touchdown. McClain also rushed for 38 yards on three carries.
Marvin Ridge is now 7-0 overall and 3-0 in Southern Carolina Conference play and will Cuthbertson (4-3, 3-0 in SCC) at home on Friday night.
Parkwood (2-5, 0-3 in SCC) will play on the road for their next game against Weddington (5-2, 2-1 in SCC).
