Sun Valley needed little time and few plays in their game against Parkwood to jump out to an early lead.

Senior Kamren Fuller took the opening kickoff 84-yards and into the end zone.  On Parkwood’s first play from scrimmage, Sun Valley linebacker Elijah Last recovered a fumble and scored.  Twenty-six seconds elapsed in the game and Sun Valley was already up, 13-0.

After the first quarter, Sun Valley had a commanding 30-0 lead and went on to defeat Parkwood, 61-13.

Senior wideout Anthony Marple started at quarterback for the injured Sam Howell who sprained his shoulder in the first half against Weddington on September 22.

Marple was impressive behind center starting his first game at quarterback completing 10-of-16 passes for 203 yards with three touchdowns. He was also the team’s leading rusher gaining 87 yards on five carries.

Parkwood’s Jajuan (JJ) Benton led all Rebels’ rushers with 75 yards on 17 carries and one touchdown.

Senior Kendall Anderson was Sun Valley’s leading receiver with four catches for 94 yards and one touchdown.

Defensively, senior Roy Artolozaga led the Spartans with 16 total tackles.

Sun Valley is now 1-1 in the Southern Carolina Conference (SCC) and 5-1 overall and will host undefeated Charlotte Catholic (6-0) on Friday.

Parkwood falls to 0-2 in the SCC and 2-4 overall and will host Marvin Ridge, also undefeated at 6-0.
